Birth is an
initiation, perhaps the greatest
one in life. Birth has
always been a path for a woman to open to her power. There is no
strength so powerful, no beauty so expansive, as a birthing woman. The
birth of a baby is a wondrous event.
Throughout history, women
have turned to each other for information and comfort as they brought
their babies into the world. This age old practice has now come full
circle with today's role of a doula.
Today, doula care provides the laboring mother with physical and emotional support, that women in many cultures have historically
enjoyed and valued.
Every birth I attend is
unique in its own way and an absolute miracle. As a
Doula, it is my desire to
assist
you in the best possible way to create a birth experience you will
cherish for the rest of your life, creating a circle of
love between mother, father and baby.
I seek to facilitate a woman's or a
couple's personal process in childbearing, and not to impart a
pre-conceived method of labor and birth. There is no right or wrong
way to birth a child but there are many ways to ensure that a woman,
with her family, feels empowered by what she is
experiencing. As a doula, I strive to support each woman I serve to
find her own unique pathway for birthing her baby.
